Overview

Barona Engineering is now looking for an Industrial Buyer for our client MAKINEN in a permanent position. The selected person will be recruited directly to MAKINEN’s organization. We are seeking a motivated Industrial Buyer to join MAKINEN’s purchasing team in Turku or Lieto, Finland. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a commercial or technical background who wants to grow as a purchasing professional in an international environment.

Your Role

As an Industrial Buyer, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth and timely material availability for demanding ship refurbishment projects. You will work closely with project teams, suppliers, and colleagues in the purchasing department. Each buyer is responsible for the procurement of a full project, giving you broad ownership of your work.

Your responsibilities
  • Managing procurement for assigned projects from start to finish
  • Handling both catalogue-based purchases and tailored, custom-made materials
  • Managing large-volume purchases
  • Coordinating material deliveries and call-offs, ensuring proper documentation
  • Supporting material management processes and ERP system implementation
  • Working closely with the Senior Buyer on more strategic supply chain development
What We Expect from You

We are looking for a proactive and committed professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to perform under pressure. You already have some experience in procurement and are eager to develop your skills further in project purchasing.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in procurement (industrial or project-based purchasing is an advantage)
  • Strong ERP skills – experience with procurement systems is essential
  • Negotiation skills and understanding of contracts
  • A proactive, self-driven, and reliable working style
  • Ability to handle high-volume, time-critical purchasing processes
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Fluency in English (Finnish or other languages are considered an asset)
  • Willingness to work on-site in Turku or Lieto (no remote option)
