Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking a Lead Supplier Technology Expert to provide rapid technical leadership across casting, welding and machining, accelerating supplier industrialisation and strengthening manufacturing capability in Finland and beyond.

Based primarily in Finland (Vaasa, Turku or Helsinki) with optional Italy placement, the role offers hybrid remote work and close collaboration with R&D, quality and operations to turn complex technical challenges into practical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, materials, metallurgical or welding engineering, or related discipline.
• Expertise in at least one manufacturing technology (casting, machining, welding or metal forming).
• Proven experience leading complex technical or industrialisation projects.
• Strong project-management and cross-functional collaboration and presentation skills.
• Fluent business English and willingness to travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Provide rapid technical leadership to accelerate supplier industrialisation and resolve disruptions.
• Turn technical requirements into practical solutions in collaboration with category teams, R&D, quality, and operations.
• Lead recovery and improvement projects and coordinate stakeholders.
• Mentor junior professionals and transfer technical knowledge.
