Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to lead end-to-end HV substation design in Finland, from concept studies and FEED to detailed design, interfacing with grid operators and the client.

You will act as the on-site client representative with TSOs/DSOs, oversee commissioning, safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance, and coordinate with EPCs and contractors while managing risks and progress reporting.

Qualifications

• HV substations and grid-related civil works experience.
• Experience as Owner's Engineer/Owner's Representative.
• Construction sector experience, ideally in data centre environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and client liaison.

• Lead end-to-end HV substation design from concept through FEED to detailed design.
• Define interfaces between incoming HV infrastructure and internal facility power systems (Generators, UPS, MSBs, and switchgear).
• Direct the commissioning process, oversee SAP switching protocols, and IST.
• Oversee HV civil engineering packages for grid-connection projects.
• Act as the client's on-site representative with TSOs/DSOs, EPCs and contractors.
• Review designs, method statements, and construction drawings.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, safety standards, and quality assurance.
• Manage project risks, change control, and progress reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end HV substation design from concept studies, Grid Connection Agreements, FEED (Front End Engineering Design), to detailed design.
• Define interfaces between incoming HV infrastructure and internal facility power systems (Generators, UPS, MSBs, and switchgear).
• Direct the commissioning process, oversee Senior Authorised Person (SAP) switching protocols, and manage Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Oversee HV civil engineering packages for grid-connection projects
• Act as the client's on-site representative with TSOs/DSOs, EPCs and contractors
• Review designs, method statements, and construction drawings
• Ensure regulatory compliance, safety standards, and quality assurance
• Manage project risks, change control, and progress reporting

Key Requirements

• Strong background in HV substations, transmission/distribution projects, or grid-related civil works
• Experience acting in an Owner's Engineer/Owner's Representative capacity
• Construction sector experience, ideally within a Data Centre environment
• Exposure to large scale complex projects, collaborating effectively and directly with client
• Excellent stakeholder management
