Overview

ALTA Performance Materials has an exciting opportunity for a HR Manager to join our EMEA HR team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and executing the full scope of human resources activities for the ALTA Performance Materials organization in Porvoo (Finland). This position plays a key role in supporting the local management team and aligning HR practices with corporate standards and business objectives. The role ensures compliance, drives employee engagement, and acts as the primary point of contact for HR-related matters in Finland. Additionally, this role is in charge of payroll and benefits administration for the UK and Swiss legal entities. The position reports to the EMEA HR Lead based at our Porvoo Plant (Finland).

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the end-to-end HR function for the Finnish entity, including recruitment, onboarding, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, compliance, and training.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and managers for the Finnish workforce, providing guidance and support on all HR matters.
  • Administer payroll and benefit programs in collaboration with relevant internal and external partners for the assigned countries: Finland, UK and Switzerland.
  • Ensure compliance with Finnish employment laws, applicable collective agreements, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute to a positive, high performing workplace culture at Porvoo site.
  • Maintain and manage employee records, HR systems, and documentation with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with the EMEA HR Lead and other regional/global stakeholders to align local HR practices with broader company strategy and initiatives.
Required Education And Experience / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of HR generalist experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferred in Chem sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in a multicultural working environment.
Technical Competencies
  • Workday knowledge would be beneficial.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Familiar with Chem sector collective agreements.
  • Finn and English fluent.
Behavioural Skills
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
