Job summary

Verda seeks a Head of IT to own internal IT end-to-end, from identity and access management to SaaS, devices, and corporate infrastructure. You’ll work with Security, Compliance, and People, making sound technical decisions without a playbook.

This senior role offers high autonomy, exposure to rapid growth, and collaboration with global teams. Hybrid work with offices in Helsinki or London is expected.

Qualifications

• Own IT function end-to-end in a rapidly scaling organisation.

• Design and implement secure IT environments, not just operate existing ones.

Responsibilities

• Own Verda's internal IT strategy, operations and technology roadmap.
• Build and operate a secure, reliable, scalable internal IT environment.
• Own IAM, device and endpoint management, and core SaaS systems.
• Advance IT policies, standards, controls and processes.
• Manage onboarding/offboarding, device lifecycle and employee IT processes.
• Partner with Security and Compliance on controls and requirements.
• Remediate IT risks and control gaps.
• Establish backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
• Oversee selection, implementation and lifecycle of critical IT systems.
• Manage IT vendors, contracts, procurement and performance.
• Escalate complex IT incidents and failures.
• Create repeatable processes for a growing international org.
• Provide risk assessments and tech recommendations to leadership.
• Continuously evaluate and simplify the tech stack.

Job description

Verda is scaling quickly across infrastructure, customers, geographies, and headcount. The internal technology environment needs to keep pace.

We're looking for a Head of IT to take ownership of Verda's internal IT function end-to-end, from identity and access management through to SaaS, devices, corporate infrastructure, vendors, controls, and the processes that keep the organisation operating securely.

This is a senior role with significant autonomy. We need someone who can build the IT to function in a rapidly scaling environment rather than simply operate an existing one. You'll work closely with Security, Compliance, and People, and you'll be expected to make sound technical and operational decisions without waiting for a playbook.

Your responsibilities

In this role, you will own and deliver Verda's internal IT strategy, operations and technology roadmap.

• Own Verda's internal corporate IT strategy and operating model as Verda scales
• Build and operate a secure, reliable, and scalable internal IT environment
• Own identity and access management, device and endpoint management, and core SaaS systems
• Advance and maintain IT policies, standards, controls, and operational processes
• Own onboarding, offboarding, device lifecycle, and employee IT processes
• Partner closely with Security and Compliance on IT security controls and compliance requirements
• Own remediation of IT-related risks and control gaps
• Establish appropriate backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery processes for the corporate IT structure
• Own the selection, implementation, and lifecycle management of critical IT systems
• Manage IT vendors, contracts, procurement, and performance
• Act as the escalation point for complex IT incidents and failures
• Establish repeatable processes and standards that can operate across a growing international organisation
• Provide technical recommendations and risk assessments to leadership
• Continuously evaluate Verda's internal technology stack and remove unnecessary complexity

Your key competencies

• Demonstrated ability to own an IT function or significant IT environment end-to-end
• Deep technical understanding of identity and access management, endpoint management, SaaS, networking, and IT infrastructure
• Strong understanding of IT security, access control, authentication, device security, and operational risk
• Ability to design and implement secure IT environments rather than simply operate existing ones
• Strong technical judgement and ability to make high-impact decisions independently
• Strong understanding of how IT controls support security and compliance requirements
• Ability to identify risks before they become incidents and drive remediation through to completion
• Ability to translate technical risks and trade-offs into clear business decisions
• Strong vendor management and commercial judgement
• Ability to balance strategic priorities with hands‑on operational requirements
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Experience supporting international or distributed organisations
• Comfortable operating with incomplete information and making decisions quickly

Nice to have

• Experience in building and operating an IT function in a rapidly scaling technology company
• Experience operating a cloud-first, SaaS-heavy environment
• Strong experience with IAM, SSO, MDM, and endpoint management
• Experience implementing IT controls within security or compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2
• Experience designing business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response processes
• Experience managing significant IT vendors and budgets
• Experience hiring and leading an IT team
• Experience working closely with Security and Compliance teams
• Experience in cloud infrastructure, data centers, or another technically complex environment

Practicalities

• Location: Helsinki, Finland or London, UK
• Hybrid mode: Working 3 days a week from our Helsinki or London office
• Employment type: Full-time and permanent
