Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking a Chief Commissioning Engineer to lead engine automation commissioning at new-build energy sites worldwide. The role requires hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and strong UNIC knowledge, with seniority options from Commissioning Engineer to Chief Commissioning Engineer.

The position is permanent and based in Vaasa, Turku or Helsinki, Finland, with extensive international assignments and up to 250 days per year on-site abroad. Strong English skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BSc in Automation Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of automation commissioning experience with hands-on testing and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of combustion engine processes and tuning for reliable operation.
• Practical expertise with engine automation systems, including commissioning, testing and fault finding; UNIC knowledge is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Wärtsilä four‑stroke engines and UNIC control.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Carry out hands-on commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of Wärtsilä engine automation systems (UNIC) at new-build energy sites.
• Check and adjust engine and plant auxiliary systems; collaborate with site team to optimise operation.
• Document commissioning activities, test results, and technical findings in clear internal and customer reports.
