Job summary

Nordea Bank Abp is seeking an Enterprise Architect and Service Domain Architecture Lead to own and drive the KYC architecture within Financial Crime Prevention. Based in Finland (and Poland), you will define target architectures, roadmaps, and governance for KYC across Nordea and FCP.

You will collaborate with business and technology teams, guide solution design, and ensure alignment with group architectures, data and AI initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant architecture experience.
  • Strong understanding of technical capabilities in distributed architectures.
  • Experience with financial services and financial crime prevention is a plus.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.

Know Your Customer (KYC) service domain within Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) service area is responsible for the framework for ensuring that we know whom we are doing business with, their source of funding, and the purpose of the transactions. A robust KYC process is the key element in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF).

Currently, KYC is renewing its processes and core applications. In coming years, the aim is to evolve KYC to a true customer activity monitoring domain by further automating KYC processes, bringing in more ML/AI based capabilities and capturing events related to our customers and their associated parties. This is a unique opportunity to drive the KYC architecture to a whole new dimension. The role reports to the Head of Financial Crime Prevention Architecture.

About our team

The Financial Crime Prevention Architecture team is part of Group Architecture, a central unit that enables Nordea's strategies through architectural coherence and technology guidance. Join our team of 7 Enterprise Architects specializing in Financial Crime Prevention—a business domain focused on detecting, preventing, and reporting money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing, and sanctions violations. We help Nordea meet regulatory requirements, protect our customers and institution, and safeguard financial system integrity.

We set architectural direction, guide strategic investments, and drive execution enabling AI, data and modernization at Nordic scale through collaboration and partnerships with business and technology leaders across Nordea.

About this opportunity

We are seeking an Enterprise Architect and Service Domain Architecture Lead to lead the KYC architecture within Financial Crime Prevention architecture team. This role is based in Finland and Poland.

You will be responsible for:
  • Defining and maintaining target architectures and roadmaps for KYC in alignment with Nordea and FCP approved architectures, standards and guidelines
  • Driving strongly the definition of KYC architecture roadmap in collaboration and cooperation with business and technology leads, and architects in KYC and other service domains
  • Acting as the authority for KYC architecture, guiding solution design and ensuring alignment with strategic goals and common Nordea and FCP target and transition architectures
  • Building trust and collaboration across stakeholders, from technology teams and business leaders to architecture teams
  • Making sure that KYC architecture is compliant and follow Nordea group architecture direction and processes
  • Architecture Stakeholder management between KYC and FCP architecture lead
  • Driving spirit to ensure architects are strongly committed
Main responsibilities in this role:
  • Define high-level solution approaches and produce architecture deliverables (principles, standards, target and transition architecture artefacts, high-level designs, roadmaps)
  • Drive solution design and data integration with other service areas and domains ensuring reusability and alignment with technology and data group strategy
  • Participate and drive architecture governance forums, steering solution design work
  • Document architecture decisions, and ensure transparent architecture processes
  • Provide advisory, concept development, and proof-of-concepts for new initiatives in collaboration with solution architects
  • Serve as the architecture authority in vendor and technology selection
  • Be a member of the architecture community, ensuring knowledge sharing and professional development
