Job summary

Konecranes in Finland seeks an Engineer for the Energy & Drives team. You’ll take responsibility for inverter-controlled drive systems and battery charging solutions, contributing to port crane projects and development initiatives.

You will collaborate with suppliers, support project teams, and travel internationally as needed, including USA and China, to ensure successful deliveries and continuous engineering improvement across RTG and other port cranes.

Qualifications

• B.Sc or M.Sc in electrical engineering, power electronics preferred.
• 3+ years of experience with inverter-controlled drives.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; Finnish language skills are an asset.
• Willingness to travel internationally to USA and China.

Energy & Drives team

supports port crane project deliveries with unique engineering expertise in power supply technologies like generator sets, electrical drives as well as battery and hybrid solutions.

We are currently on the lookout for an Engineer who will take responsibility for the engineering tasks related to inverter-controlled drive systems and battery energy storage & battery charging systems.

In this role you will participate in delivery projects and contribute to designing new solutions in development projects with deep knowledge of your focus areas. You’ll primarily work with Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes while also supporting projects involving other types of port cranes. You’ll also occasionally participate in testing work at Konecranes and customer sites.

Qualifications

What should you bring?

To succeed in this role, you have good knowledge of inverter controlled electrical drives and at least basic knowledge of battery systems. You’re also highly motivated to continuously develop your engineering talent in the domain of power supply technologies.

• B.Sc or M.Sc in electrical engineering, preferably in the field of power electronics
• At least :3 years work experience with inverter-controlled drives
• Fluency in written and spoken English; Finnish language skills are an asset
• Ability to travel internationally, including to the USA and China, as business needs require several times annually

Seen as an advantage

• Experience in industrial-level battery energy storages and charging systems
• Experience with port cranes and their components
