Job summary

Qualifications

  • Technical degree in electrical/automation engineering (MSc or BSc).
  • Fluency in English; Finnish or Swedish is advantageous.

  • Experience with internal combustion engines and automation systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as engine automation expert for defined engine types.
  • Create and test engine automation software configurations for customer projects.
  • Maintain databases and documentation related to automation configurations.
  • Support production and factory testing in troubleshooting automation systems.
  • Coordinate with sub-suppliers and supervise design and deliveries.
  • Assist with commissioning at customer sites.
  • Provide technical support to sales and supply management on engine automation.
  • Collaborate with other teams on engine performance, design, software development, and service.

Job description

We are looking for an Engine Automation Engineer with the main responsibility of engineering solutions for customer engines. This permanent position is part of the R&D and Engineering organization, and the position is located in Vaasa, Finland.

Modern diesel- and gas engines have an embedded engine automation system which forms an essential part of the engine and ensures optimal performance and functionality of the engine. The automation system is specifically configured for each delivery engine to meet the needs for each individual customer application.

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:
  • Act as engine automation expert for defined engine types
  • Create and test engine automation software configurations for customer delivery projects and maintain related databases and documentation
  • Support engine production and engine factory testing in advanced troubleshooting of engine automation systems
  • Take part in the execution of customer projects through correspondence and participation in meetings with internal stakeholders and sub-suppliers
  • Coordinate and supervise design and deliveries from sub-suppliers
  • Support and assist with the commissioning at the customer sites
  • Provide technical support for our sales- and supply management organizations regarding engine automation
  • Participate in development projects and cooperate with other expert teams in the areas of engine performance, engine design, software development and technical service
To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:

  • Fluency in verbal and written English as well as Finnish or Swedish

  • Good knowledge of basic office tools and willingness to learn other engineering tools
  • Technical education, MSc or BSc in electrical/automation engineering, or similar
  • Experience of working with internal combustion engines and related automation systems
