We are now looking for a Payroll Manager, EMEA to join our Payroll Management team. This position will be located in Finland or other UPM office location within EMEA region.

What you will do

Job Purpose

  • Oversee the management, development, and resourcing of both in-house and outsourced payroll operations in the EMEA region, ensuring payroll services for all UPM employees within the region
  • Manage a team of Payroll Specialists and external payroll vendors to ensure compliance with standards and legislation and correct on-time payments
  • As a member of the Global Payroll management team, contribute to the planning and development of the UPM Payroll Services and ensure agreed global and local concepts and payroll procedures are implemented in the EMEA region with balanced cost and quality
  • Participate in the operational payroll processing when needed

In the role, you will:

  • Act as a member of the Global Payroll Management Team
  • Create direct reports for Specialists and Senior Specialists in Payroll
  • Create indirect (functional) reports for personnel responsible for handling Payroll in EMEA countries
  • Manage payroll team and external payroll vendors for the preparation, documentation and disbursement of all payroll cheques/direct deposits, payroll taxes and employee benefit payments
  • Lead, guide and coach the team to deliver with high standards. Inspire effective work, professional development and wellbeing
  • Ensure EMEA payroll performance and quality, ensure that all payroll services comply with the standards required by the company and payroll is processed accurately and on time
  • Contribute to the planning and development of the Global Payroll Services and ensure projects, development initiatives, and roll-out of new or revised payroll processes are implemented in EMEA area
  • Manage payroll stakeholders, communication and coordination within all levels of the organization
  • Contribute to operational payroll responsibilities, including tasks relating to expatriate payroll, reward systems and representing the company in front of auditors and authorities for relevant countries
  • Support UPM businesses e.g. M&A, international expansion and organizational changes

Who you are

  • You have extensive experience leading in-house and outsourced payroll operations in international, multi-country contexts
  • You have mature professional knowledge of payroll, compensation-related tax and reporting requirements, with experience in expatriate processes
  • You can represent the company in front of auditors and authorities
  • You are familiar with payroll, time management and HR technologies (such as Workday, reporting tools) as well as standard Office package tools
  • You have good interpersonal and communication skills, you are a good leader and collaborative partner at all levels
  • You are organized and ensure high standards and integrity
  • You are fluent in English
