Job description

We are looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator with a passion for positive business impact. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our growth and success!

Reporting to the Manager EHS, the EHS Coordinator is working on site and is the front-line point of contact for occupational risk management and environmental protection & conservation. An employee in this role will be responsible for implementation of actions and programs related to CertainTeed Canada EHS Strategy and the overall Saint-Gobain EHS Policy and Charter.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the hazard identification program up to date (Collection of cards, data entry, defining corrective actions with the direct managers)
  • Conduct EHS inspection of critical equipment, systems, documents, and records to ensure compliance with legal requirements and standards adherence.
  • Support SG Health & Safety Standards Owners with deployment and review of the standards. Support and review of the Safety Observations (SMAT’s), initial review and defining risk reduction plan with the department managers.
  • Participate in JHSC Committee (Meetings, review of inspections, preparation of safety minutes and publication on the Health and Safety board)
  • Participate in organization of EHS Events (EHS Day, Campaigns & Trainings) Conduct EHS onboarding orientation, in the absence of the EHS Manager.
  • Respiratory Program (Perform quantitative fit testing, keep annual machine fit test inspection up to date)
  • Support EHS Manager with environmental compliance (Data collections, Liaising with environmental consultants and government bodies)
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
  • An undergraduate degree or diploma/certificate related to a related applied sciences field is required. An Occupational Health and Safety Certificate is required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience as an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator or similar position.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and facilitate group presentations as required.
  • Excellent ability to collect information from employees and to relay relevant facts through incident investigations and risk reduction actions.
  • Ability to research and comprehend legislative language to ensure legal compliance.
  • Experience working in ISO.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing WCB reporting and return to work process.
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety.
