In relation to our new REINFORCE project, we are recruiting several new doctoral students at Tampere University. The doctoral students will actively participate in a breakthrough research project that will lead to a new approach to design and manufacturing. The position requires solid skills and motivation. We are especially looking for students who can formalize research problems and have strong competencies in mathematics, programming, engineering design and manufacturing.
We have 2 funded doctoral researcher positions open to candidates willing to carry out a research project towards a doctoral degree (Dr. Sc. (Tech) / PhD). The positions are currently funded for 2 years with an additional 1 year funding related to the phase 2 of the REINFORCE project. The doctoral researchers selected will carry out research in the MASYRE research group.
A necessary requirement is a M.Sc. degree in a relevant field (related to computing science or automation science with ideally knowledge in engineering and manufacturing engineering). Other requirements are a motivation letter, CV and transcripts of records.
The candidates are selected based on the researcher potential demonstrated through the previous studies and merits in research work and thesis writing.
Please note that along commencing in the position, the selected candidates must also apply for a study right within the doctoral program, unless they already have one. The selected candidates will be informed about this separate procedure later.
We offer the successful candidates fully funded positions as Doctoral researchers, commencing in October 2025 or as mutually agreed. We offer you high-quality supervision and the freedom to develop your ideas in a supportive and inspirational research environment. A trial period of six (6) months applies to all our new employees.
The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities. A starting salary for Doctoral Researchers is typically between 2600-2850 EUR/month. Our incentive salary system for Doctoral Researchers ensures salary increases based on the progress of the doctoral degree and thesis.
