Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Director, R&D to lead the Board and Paper Machines R&D portfolio and guide pilot centers. You will drive digital and technology development, coordinating with customers, research partners, and senior stakeholders to translate ideas into impactful solutions that strengthen competitiveness.

You will lead highly skilled teams in a global environment, shaping future technology directions and contributing to the company’s strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field.
• Proven leadership experience and strategic decision-making capabilities.
• Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience with data analytics, digital solutions, AI technologies, or technology architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Board and Paper Machines R&D portfolio, aligning with business strategy and long-term competitiveness.
• Drive Digital Transformation and Operations Development to enhance performance and innovation.
• Lead line-level technology development and support advancement of board and paper machine solutions.
• Collaborate with customers, research organizations, universities, and development partners to drive innovation.
• Represent Valmet in customer meetings and industry forums, presenting technology initiatives to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful execution of strategic initiatives.
• Support business decisions with understanding of processes, performance, and financial drivers.
• Serve as a member of the Technology Unit Leadership Team and contribute to strategy execution.
