Job description

Director of People & Organisational Development

Key to Driving Our Organisation's Success and Delivering High Quality Services

We are the UK's oldest mental health charity, with a rich history dating back to 1879. Our vision is to empower individuals experiencing mental distress to live the life they choose and determine their own future.

Our organisation offers a wide range of support services, with approximately 5,000 adults benefiting from our work every month through 70 projects across England. We aim to expand our reach through our five-year strategy.

Our team of staff, peer supporters, and volunteers play a vital role in delivering our organisational strategy. The Director of People & Organisational Development will drive the development of our organisational culture and ensure high-quality services through leadership of the Human Resources functions, Total Reward offer, and executive assurance to our trustees.

This senior leadership role involves leading the HR function, total reward strategy, and providing assurance to the board. Key responsibilities include driving organisational culture, leading on service user involvement, and ensuring effective representation of service users' views to the Senior Leadership Team and Trustees.

The Director will be part of our Senior Leadership Team and have a critical lead responsibility for ensuring that service users and people with lived experience of mental distress are involved at every level of the organisation. This includes executive support of the National Service User Steering Group, ensuring their skills, personal experience, and knowledge are effectively implemented through the workforce and their views effectively represented to the Senior Leadership Team and Trustees.

We value professionalism, integrity, and passion in our employees. If you are a driven individual who shares our commitment to delivering high-quality services, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your CV and a Supporting Statement outlining how you meet each of the criteria set out in the person specification. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
