Job summary

Orion Corporation is seeking a Development Manager for Primary Packaging Materials in Espoo with hybrid working options. You will lead packaging material changes, evaluate new materials, and guide documentation and regulatory support within the CPD&LCM team.

Reporting to the Head of Primary Packaging Materials & Cleaning Validation, you will coordinate cross-functional projects, plan test runs, and ensure quality requirements and specs are met. Fluency in Finnish and English is expected.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field, preferably related to packaging materials.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to take ownership and deliver on time.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and engage others to achieve shared objectives.
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • A can-do attitude with excellent collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in Finnish and English.
  • Experience or knowledge of pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics or packaging industry is advantageous.

About your role

As Development Manager, you will be responsible for managing primary packaging materials within your area of responsibility. The position can be based in Espoo, Turku or Salo, with the possibility of hybrid working and will report to Tero Löytänä, Head of Primary Packaging Materials & Cleaning Validation. The position is fixed-term until 31 December 2028.

Your key responsibilities

Your key responsibilities and activities include:

  • Managing change controls and assessing changes related to primary packaging materials
  • Evaluating the suitability and functionality of new primary packaging materials
  • Providing expertise on primary packaging materials and managing related documentation
  • Contributing to marketing authorisation applications and variations
  • Managing quality requirements and specifications for primary packaging materials
  • Planning test runs

Unit description

Orion's Global Operations covers the entire pharmaceutical manufacturing process, from sourcing of raw materials to the manufacture of products, packaging and delivery to customers. We are also responsible for the industrialization of new products and product life cycle management.

In Global Operations we have approximately 1,600 professionals working in Production, our external supplier network (Externally Sourced Operations) and Fermion Oy (API manufacturing and marketing). In addition, the organization includes Supply Chain & Procurement, Technical Operations, Facility Management, EHS (Environment, Health and Safety), CPD&LCM (Commercial Product Development & Product lifecycle management) and Operations Development.

The Primary Packaging Materials & Cleaning Validation department, part of Commercial Product Development and Lifecycle Management (CPD&LCM), is responsible for managing the primary packaging materials used in Orion's product portfolio. The department is also responsible for cleaning validation at Orion's manufacturing and packaging sites.
