Job summary

Valmet Technologies Oy in Finland is seeking a Development Engineer to support development of manufacturing processes across Lapua and Tampere. You will work with production professionals to drive continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives, shaping new manufacturing capabilities.

The role includes planning development projects, enabling upstream/downstream manufacturability, and frequent travel between two production units to ensure alignment with operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a production or manufacturing environment with an understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Finnish and English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Regular travel between Tampere and Lapua is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and carry out development projects that support pressure part manufacturing strategy.
  • Support production flow with continuous improvement processes (e.g., waste reduction follow-up).
  • Identify and implement new manufacturing opportunities and capabilities in own manufacturing and subcontracting when feasible.
  • Facilitate new concepts and manufacturability in upstream and downstream value chain.
  • Secure stability of development by process descriptions, operating improvements and follow-up models in close cooperation with operative teams.

Job description

Drive Manufacturing Excellence as a Development Engineer Want to see the results of your work on the factory floor? As a Development Engineer, you will support the development of manufacturing processes and ways of working across our pressure part production sites in Lapua and Tampere. Working closely with production professionals and development experts, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, LEAN activities and the introduction of new manufacturing capabilities. This role offers a great opportunity to build your expertise in manufacturing development while making a visible impact on daily operations. The position can be located in Lapua or in Tampere, and regular travel between the two production units is part of the role.

  • Planning and carrying out development projects that support pressure part manufacturing strategy.
  • Supporting production flow with continuous improvement processes e.g. systematic waste reduction follow up.
  • Identifying and implementing new manufacturing opportunities and capabilities in own manufacturing, but also in subcontracting when feasible.
  • Facilitating new concepts and manufacturability in upstream and downstream value chain.
  • Securing stability of development by process descriptions, way to operate improvements and follow up models in close co-operation with operative teams.
  • BSc or MSc degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in a production or manufacturing environment with an understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of LEAN principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in pressure part manufacturing and welding is considered an advantage.
  • Finnish and English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Regular travel between Tampere and Lapua is required.
