Job summary

Winthrop Technologies is seeking a Design Engineer to join the growing design team on a major data centre project in Finland. You will support the Design Manager, coordinate designs, and deliver high-quality drawings, calculations and specifications from concept through to commissioning.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and 2–5 years' experience in design engineering, with BIM experience and proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit being advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction or related discipline.
• 2–5 years of design engineering experience in construction, consultancy or contracting.
• Experience on large-scale projects such as data centres or industrial developments is preferred.
• Strong design coordination knowledge and construction methodologies.
• Experience with BIM and digital construction tools is desirable; MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Support the Design Manager in developing and coordinating designs from concept to construction.
• Produce and review drawings, calculations and specifications per project standards.
• Coordinate with internal BIM teams and external consultants for clash-free designs.
• Assist with TS process, RFIs respond accurately and on time.
• Support change management, cost and programme impact assessments.

We are currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our growing design team. Reporting to the Design Manager, the Design Engineer will support the development, coordination, and delivery of high-quality design solutions on a major data centre project in Finland.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Design Manager in the development and coordination of project designs from concept through to construction and commissioning.
• Produce, review, and coordinate design drawings, calculations, and specifications in line with project requirements and relevant standards.
• Liaise with internal design teams, BIM teams, and external consultants to ensure coordinated and clash-free designs.
• Assist with the Technical Submittal (TS) process, ensuring submissions align with project specifications and programme requirements.
• Respond to design queries and Requests for Information (RFIs) in a timely and accurate manner.
• Support the preparation and review of documentation and revisions.
• Participate in design coordination meetings, workshops, and internal reviews.
• Support change management processes by identifying design changes and assessing impacts on cost, programme, and constructability.
• Ensure design deliverables comply with quality, health & safety, and environmental requirements.
• Assist with the preparation of as-built drawings, O&M documentation, and final handover requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline.
• 2-5 years' experience in a design engineering role within construction, engineering consultancy, or contracting environments.
• Experience on large-scale projects such as data centres, industrial, pharmaceutical, or commercial developments is preferred.
• Strong understanding of design coordination and construction methodologies.
• Experience working with BIM and digital construction tools is desirable.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications; experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software is advantageous.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
