Job summary

Telia is seeking a Data Governance Specialist in Finland to strengthen our data management framework. You will lead the development of governance models, catalogs, metadata, and lineage, while collaborating with business, IT and legal teams to ensure data quality and compliance.

The role requires 2–5+ years in data management or analytics, with Finnish and English proficiency, and the ability to work across multiple stakeholders in a dynamic telecom environment.

Qualifications

• Proven competence in data lifecycle, metadata management, data modeling and data quality.
• Experience with data catalog, metadata and data lineage solutions.
• CDMP is advantageous; core competence matters more than certification.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous development of Telia Finland's data governance models, processes and practices.
• Coordinate data management development and improvement measures in cooperation with business, IT and Group Technology.
• Maintain and develop data catalogues, metadata and data lineage solutions and support their utilization in the organization.
• Support data owners and other stakeholders in implementing the responsibilities, processes and requirements of data management.
• Monitor the development of data management capabilities, data quality and documentation, and report on observations and development needs.
• Participate in the implementation and development of data management policies, guidelines, standards and controls, as well as in their practical implementation.
• Support the fulfilment of audits, risk management and compliance requirements related to data management in cooperation with the information security, privacy and legal teams.
• Work as an active expert in various development projects, ensuring that data governance requirements are considered as part of the design and implementation of solutions.

Job description

We’re looking for a Data Governance Specialist to join us at Telia. I’m Tarja Miikki, CISO, Head of Cyber and Information Security. I’m searching for someone ready to grow with us. We’re a supportive, forward-thinking team focused on ensuring that customer data in Telia's services is intact and reliable, appropriately managed and securely accessible. We play a key role in developing the management, transparency and reliability of the company's data assets. We work closely with business, technology and other Group functions.

What you’ll do:

• Support the implementation and continuous development of Telia Finland's data governance models, processes and practices.
• Coordinate data management development and improvement measures in cooperation with business, IT and Group Technology.
• Maintain and develop data catalogues, metadata and data lineage solutions and support their utilization in the organization.

What will help you thrive in this role:

• A CDMP certificate is considered an advantage, but demonstrating corresponding competence is the most important thing.
• At least 2-5 years of experience in data management, information management, analytics, reporting or other data-intensive tasks.
• Practical experience in data catalog, metadata and data lineage solutions and an interest in developing data management processes. We value experience in both Open Source and commercial data governance tools.
• Proven experience and good understanding of the principles of data lifecycle, metadata management, data modeling, data quality, and data documentation.
• Strongly analytical, systematic and collaborative way of working.
• Excellent organizational, stakeholder and management skills are required.
• You can put things into practice and build good cooperation relationships with different stakeholders.

In addition, you have:

• University degree (Master's) in business administration, economics, information technology, computer science, or another relevant discipline.
• Fluent in Finnish and English, both written and spoken.
• Good communication skills.
• A proactive and solution-oriented approach to work.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time and move things forward together with different stakeholders.
