Job summary

Hamilton Barnes is seeking a Data Centre Operations Specialist to support the build-out and ongoing operations of a multi-megawatt data centre in Kajaani, Finland. You will oversee daily infrastructure, ensure 24/7 availability, and collaborate with engineering, facilities, and security teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/Mechanical/Automation Engineering, 3+ years in data centre operations, and fluency in Finnish and English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation Engineering, or similar.
• 3+ years’ experience in data centre operations or industrial facility management.
• Strong understanding of data centre systems: power distribution, cooling (incl. DLC), automation/BMS, fire systems, and security technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving, high-demand environment.
• Able to build strong working relationships with colleagues, partners, and vendors.
• Fluency in Finnish and English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation of data centre infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, automation, and facility processes.
• Maintain 24/7 availability and stability of the data centre environment.
• Work closely with engineering, technical, and facilities teams to resolve issues.
• Develop and maintain SOPs for consistent and safe operations.
• Manage and maintain all data centre systems (power, cooling, liquid cooling, automation, etc.).

The organization is currently on the lookout for a Data centre Operations Specialist to support the operations and ongoing build-out of a multi-megawatt colocation facility in Kajaani. The ideal candidate will support day-to-day data centre infrastructure, participate in commissioning phases, and help ensure the reliability of mechanical, electrical, cooling, and automation systems, with some on-call work and weekend availability required.
