Job summary

ABB Oy in Helsinki seeks a data analytics professional to advance analytics practices in the Marine Propulsion business. You will deliver end-to-end BI from Snowflake to Power BI, and lead initiatives with external partners to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

Job description

In this role, you will take a key part in advancing data analytics practices and related technology within the ABB Marine Propulsion business. You will work closely with operational stakeholders to identify needs and develop data solutions that deliver actionable insights, improved visibility, automated predictive forecasts, and digital work assistants to improve performance and streamline workflows.

You will build end-to-end analytics solutions from the SQL-based data platform (Snowflake) to the end product—Power BI semantic models and reports, real-time dashboards, and conversational self-service interfaces that help users access insights and guidance. You will also act as a project lead and/or data expert in selected data and analytics initiatives, guiding and supporting external partners to ensure high-quality delivery aligned with business priorities. This role will be located at Vuosaari, Helsinki.

You will be mainly accountable for

• Executing quantitative analysis that translates data into actionable insights.
• Developing data and analytics solutions within the Marine Propulsion organization and driving the move toward an AI- and advanced analytics-supported environment.
• Interpreting data, analyzing results using statistical techniques, and providing ongoing reports.
• Building and maintaining end-to-end BI solutions from Snowflake (SQL) to Power BI (datasets, semantic models, dashboards, reporting).
• Owning knowledge capture and documentation of under-the-hood systems (architecture, data models, design decisions) to maintain and enhance overall system integrity.
• Contributing to standards, technology and tool selections, and defining new data collection and analysis processes.
• Leading and/or supporting data initiatives as a project manager/data expert, including coordination and guidance of external consultants.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maritime business and a drive to improve operations through data and analytics solutions.
• Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering, mathematics, business, or another relevant field.
• Technical skills: advanced SQL and Power BI knowledge. Python is an advantage.
• Experience with Snowflake and SAP
• Few years of experience in data analytics/BI, experience from industrial/manufacturing environments is an advantage.
• Proven track record of creating visible progress and business value with data analytics solutions.
• Passion for data and related technologies with a desire to grow expertise.
• Motivation to grow project management skills and lead data initiatives in addition to hands-on development.
