Job Description: CSA Lead – Data Centre Construction
Key Responsibilities
1. CSA Package Management
- Lead, coordinate, and manage all CSA scope elements including civil works, foundations, structural steel, concrete, building envelope, roofing, interiors, and external works.
- Ensure all CSA activities align with project specifications, design intent, and industry standards.
- Drive interface coordination between CSA works and MEP disciplines to avoid clashes and programme delays.
2. Planning, Scheduling & Progress Control
- Develop and maintain CSA construction sequencing plans.
- Review contractor schedules, monitor progress, and proactively address delays or constraints.
- Coordinate site logistics involving earthworks, utilities, access routes, laydown areas, and crane operations.
3. Design Management & Technical Oversight
- Review civil, structural, and architectural design drawings and technical submittals.
- Manage RFIs, design clarifications, and ensure resolution of discrepancies.
- Ensure all structural solutions meet required load-bearing, fire, and building code requirements.
- Validate that the building envelope meets thermal, acoustic, fire-rating, and weatherproofing performance criteria.
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Implement quality control procedures for all CSA works, including material inspections, workmanship checks, and testing.
- Review method statements and inspection test plans (ITPs).
- Ensure compliance with local codes, planning conditions, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Oversee installation of reinforced concrete, steel frameworks, façade systems, and architectural finishes to required tolerances.
5. Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Manage CSA subcontractors, evaluate performance, and ensure alignment with contract deliverables.
- Lead weekly CSA coordination meetings and track the resolution of issues.
- Liaise with design consultants, cost managers, commissioning teams, and the client's project management team.
6. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure all CSA works are executed in line with safety legislation, CDM regulations, and company HSE policies.
- Conduct site walks, lead toolbox talks, and enforce safe systems of work.
- Investigate incidents and support corrective/preventative actions.
7. Change Management & Cost Control
- Identify potential variations and work with commercial teams to assess cost, scope, and schedule impacts.
- Review contractor payment applications and verify progress claimed.
- Support value engineering while maintaining functional and quality requirements.
8. Documentation & Handover
- Manage CSA documentation including as-builts, O&M manuals, test results, and warranties.
- Support handover to commissioning and operations teams.
- Ensure completion of snag lists/punch lists to required standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Essential
- Proven experience delivering CSA works on large-scale industrial, data centre, pharmaceutical, or commercial projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering, structural systems, building envelopes, finishes, and construction technologies.
- Ability to interpret and manage architectural/structural drawings, BIM models, and specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and contractor-management skills.
- Deep understanding of sequencing, constructability, and site logistics.
- Knowledge of safety and building regulations.
Desirable
- Experience within hyperscale or colocation data centre construction.
- Familiarity with BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) and common construction management software.
