Job summary

Optimus Search is assisting an engineering consultancy acting as Project Management Consultant on a major Metals & Minerals mega-project in Helsinki, Finland. We seek an experienced Cost Controller to start ASAP for the duration through summer 2027 with potential extension.

Cost Controller – Freelance – Helsinki, Finland

Optimus Search is supporting an engineering consultancy acting as Project Management Consultant (PMC) on a major Metals & Minerals mega-project for a large international client. The team has just taken on another section of the project and needs an experienced Cost Controller to start as soon as possible.

The project

• Heavy industrial Metals & Minerals mega-project, currently in final engineering / FEED
• Client-side PMC role, working directly for the end client
• Investment decision expected after engineering, with execution potentially starting late 2027

The role

• Cost control and reporting across the engineering phase
• Budget tracking, forecasting, commitments and change control
• Support cost estimates and reporting for the investment decision
• Work alongside planning, engineering and project management teams

What you’ll bring

• Proven Cost Controller experience on major capital projects
• Background in project controls on large industrial, energy, oil & gas, mining or similar projects
• Client-side or PMC experience is an advantage
• Strong reporting skills and experience with project cost control tools
• Fluent English (Finnish not required)
• Location: Helsinki (client office)
• Onsite: 5 days preferred, 4 days may be possible
• Duration: until summer 2027, with likely extension
• Start: ASAP
