Job summary

We are seeking a skilled and responsible cook for a fixed-term contract to prepare meals for schoolchildren and daycare children in Roveniemi and nearby areas. You will handle daily kitchen tasks, ensure food safety, and work with other kitchen staff and site personnel.

The role requires prior cookery or kitchen experience, a HACCP/hygiene certificate, and good collaboration and communication skills. Finnish language skills and a driving license are advantageous.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and responsible cook for a fixed-term contract to prepare tasty and nutritious meals for schoolchildren and daycare children in Roveniemi and nearby areas. The role includes preparing meals for pupils and preschoolers, making lunches and, if needed, snacks, plating and ensuring smooth serving, daily kitchen tasks, receiving, storing and ordering of ingredients as necessary, following food safety, hygiene and self-monitoring guidelines, and collaboration with other kitchen staff and site personnel.

Requirements include prior experience in cookery or kitchen work, education or relevant practical skills, a HACCP/hygiene certificate, a meticulous, proactive and responsible work attitude, good collaboration and interpersonal skills, interest in child and adolescent food services and preparation of special diets, ability to work under pressure and keep the overall operation under control, Finnish language skills, driving license and owning a car is advantageous as tasks may be in Rovaniem region (Muurola, Hirvas, Kivitaipale, Vikajärvi, Sinettä, Meltaus).

Working hours and pay: fixed-term with mainly day shifts; start and duration to be agreed; pay according to KVTES and experience.
