Job summary

Hanken Business Lab in Helsinki invites applications for a Community Intern to support daily operations, member relations, and event production within a fast-paced, international environment.

Qualifications

  • 2nd–5th year BSc or MSc student; applications from recent graduates up to 1 year post-graduation will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership over small-scale community events and assist with planning and execution of larger events (e.g., Slush community events).
  • Coordinate day-to-day collaboration with resident startups and entrepreneurs under guidance of Head of Incubation and Community; check-ins with members and onboarding new startups.
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming Helsinki co-working space, manage space reservations.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Intern on social media content production and website content.

Hanken Business Lab Internship: Community Intern

Hanken Business Lab now accepts applications for a COMMUNITY INTERN from 14 September 2026 to 31 May 2027.

Hanken Business Lab is a startup incubator that provides growth-oriented support services to its resident startups and entrepreneurs through mentoring, events, wide international networks, community-building activities, and access to resources in both Helsinki and Vaasa.

We’re looking for a creative and driven Community Intern to join our dynamic, startup-focused team.

As an intern, you will work closely with the Head of Incubation and Community to support daily operations and ongoing development of our incubation services, L&G EPIC (Louise and Göran Ehrnrooth and Partners Incubation Community).

Your responsibilities will include community event organising and promotion, supporting the management of Hanken Business Lab memberships and member relations, daily maintenance of our co‑working spaces, internal and external communications, and more.

We offer a dynamic, fast‑paced, and international work environment where you’ll collaborate with entrepreneurs, industry experts, cross‑border partners, and fellow students daily. You'll gain hands‑on experience in international community management, startup support operations, and event production.

This internship is based on‑site at our co‑working spaces in Helsinki. Interns at Hanken Business Lab are considered full team members. You'll participate in team meetings, join internal planning sessions, and contribute to shaping our activities, future initiatives, and your own role.

The working language at Hanken Business Lab is English.

We are looking for a well‑organised, reliable, and diligent 2nd‑5th year BSc or MSc student. Applications from recent graduates (up to one year post‑graduation) will also be considered. Students from Hanken will be given priority in the recruitment process.

  • Taking ownership over small‑scale community events and assisting with planning, logistics, and execution of larger Hanken Business Lab events (e.g. Slush community events in November)
  • Supporting the coordination of day‑to‑day collaboration with Hanken Business Lab's resident startups and entrepreneurs under the guidance of the Head of Incubation and Community, e.g. carrying out regular check‑ins with members, handling member requests, onboarding new member startups
  • Helping to maintain a professional and welcoming work environment in the Helsinki co‑working space, ensuring its tidiness and functionality. This includes managing co‑working space reservation requests from members, students, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborating with the Marketing Intern regularly (social media content production, long‑form content for the website, and general promotional activities)
  • Excellent interpersonal, intercultural, and communication skills
  • Genuine interest in and care for community building and startup ecosystem
  • Willingness and motivation to shape your own role and take ownership of your work
  • Proactive, teamwork‑oriented attitude and drive to try and test new things
  • Ability to successfully manage own tasks without heavy supervision and to handle stress and time pressure
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English

Swedish and/or Finnish are considered an asset; Growth mindset with a positive, proactive attitude toward learning and feedback. Proficiency in everyday office software and collaboration tools (e.g. Microsoft, Notion) and social media (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram) as well as familiarity with and curiosity about AI tools.

The position is 20 hours/week with flexible office hours to be jointly decided upon.

The salary is 1270 €/month.

The trial period is two months.
