Job summary

Ahjo Communications Oy in Helsinki offers a Communications Internship to gain experience across public sector, international client and health communications teams.

You will support planning, media monitoring, writing and editing, translations, and event support while being mentored. The internship runs 6 months; work is 0–40 hours per week with flexible scheduling, and the Leipätehdas office (Kaikukatu 4, Helsinki) supports remote work.

Qualifications

  • Must be a student in a related field (2nd year or higher).
  • Excellent English is required as clients are partly international.
  • Interest in content production and strategic communications is a plus.
  • Some experience with Canva and social media is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with communications planning and execution.
  • Monitor media and social channels and prepare reports.
  • Write and edit press releases and social media posts.
  • Conduct background research and translations as needed.
  • Support events and project communications activities.
  • Contribute to creative ideation and planning.
  • Assist in developing communication strategies.
  • Handle crisis communications when required.

Job description

We are looking for a Communications Intern to join our team in Helsinki. The role offers an opportunity to work in both the public sector team and the international client and health communications teams.

Duties may include

  • assisting with communications planning and execution
  • media and social monitoring and reporting
  • writing and editing press releases and social media posts
  • background research and translations
  • providing communications support for events and projects
  • creative ideation and planning
  • supporting the development of communication strategies
  • crisis communications

The position is suitable for a student of at least the second year in communications, media, marketing, political science or a related field. Excellent English is required as clients are partly international. You are proactive, precise and interested in content production as well as strategic communications. Some experience with Canva and social media is beneficial. You will be guided by a mentor. Work time varies between 0‑40 hours per week and can be arranged flexibly around studies. Internship duration is 6 months from start, depending on the agreement.

Salary: hourly wage 11 euros. Monthly salary will be based on hours worked, including pay for lunch breaks.
