Job description

Aalto University is where science and art meet technology and business. We shape a sustainable future by making research breakthroughs in and across our disciplines, sparking the game changers of tomorrow and creating novel solutions to major global challenges. Our community is made up of 120 nationalities, 14 000 students, 400 professors and close to 5000 faculty and staff working on our dynamic campus in Espoo, Greater Helsinki, Finland.

Aalto University Founder School is a new initiative within the university offering entrepreneurship studies for all Aalto students and is now looking for a Communications and Events Coordinator to join our small team for a fixed-term until the end of May 2026.

We operate as a startup within the university: moving fast, delivering results quickly, iterating, piloting, and pivoting. We enjoy working with people who are excited to make things happen on short notice. This role is a great preparation for future work as a startup founder or in hectic and demanding leadership roles. This position suits someone early in their career with an interest in entrepreneurship, education, and communications in a fast-moving environment.

The full-time, fix-term Communications & Events Coordinator drives Founder School’s day-to-day communications and events—planning, producing, designing, publishing, and measuring. The coordinator has the main responsibility for organizing the monthly Founder Talks. The coordinator also ensures Founder School’s presence at key events, and serves as the bridge to Aalto’s central communications and events teams, while supporting outreach of all entrepreneurship education across Founder School.

Job duties may change over time. Teamwork and open communication are a must. This job requires physical presence on Aalto Otaniemi campus most workdays. Work and collaboration is done in English.

Responsibilities
  • Organize Founder Talks and other Founder School events, including startup events and workshops across campus.
  • Build and run a clear comms rhythm expanding the Founder School audience through internal student channels, website updates, social media, and other stakeholder communication.
  • Translate Founder School activities (Founder Sprint, Founder Minor, Founder Talks) into crisp, student-centric campaigns by designing assets such as posters and videos.
  • Work closely with Aalto central comms and events teams to align the Founder School vision and mission to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support logistics and documentation of events, registrations, marketing activities and all communications related outreach.
  • Help develop measurements and data collection processes to evaluate the success of Founder Talks and other Founder School activities.
What’s in it for you?
  • You’ll start building the Founder School community from day 1
  • Access to Finland’s most vibrant startup community
  • A very unique path to founder or leadership roles
  • Opportunities to meet industry leaders and founders from Finland and beyond
  • A visible role with real ownership and measurable impact
Who is this role for?

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about startups and ready to empower future startup founders
  • Is a self-starter and able to figure out what needs to be done and at what level of perfection
  • Can figure out how to ethically use AI to multiply the effects and results of their work
  • Has strong organizational and communication skills
  • Has an eye for design and is able to product assets for marketing (e.g. Canva, Photoshop)
  • Can work productively with students and startups building a tight-knit community
  • Has experience in event production, student outreach, or communications/marketing
  • Is familiar with Aalto’s entrepreneurial ecosystem (a plus, not a must)
  • Speaks and writes fluent English (Finnish is a plus)
Culture and team

You will join a fast-paced startup-like team within the university. We focus on community and results, aiming to train the next wave of bold founders from Aalto. Some days, we kick off and wrap up work a bit later than usual, since part of our team is in the US.

How to apply?

Apply through Aalto University’s recruitment system by October 17th by sending your:

  • CV
  • Motivation letter and references
  • Assignment (see below)
  • Link to portfolio (optional)

Please note: Aalto University’s employees and visitors should apply for the position via our internal system Workday.

Make drafts of two social media posts (e.g. LinkedIn) for Founder Talk #2 with Mika Anttonen, one to be published before the event and one for after the event. In addition, draft an email for Founder Talks event speaker Mika Anttonen prior to him coming to speak.
