Job summary

Edison Smart® is seeking a Commissioning Manager for a long-term data center project in Finland. You will represent the owner through commissioning, coordinating with CxAs, GCs, and vendors to ensure design intent and regulatory compliance are met.

You will review plans, supervise testing milestones, and drive the transition from construction to operations while maintaining alignment with the project schedule and local codes.

Qualifications

• Experience as Commissioning Manager on owner side of data center projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems commissioning.
• Fluent English required; Finnish or other Nordic language a plus.

Responsibilities

• Represent the owner during commissioning from design review through IST and handover.
• Review and validate the OPR, Basis of Design, and commissioning plan.
• Oversee performance of CxAs, GCs, and MEP subcontractors against the scope.
• Chair commissioning progress meetings across GC, CxA, design and vendor teams.
• Review documentation and witness key milestones (FAT/SAT, IST).
• Track deficiency resolution and align commissioning with schedule.
• Support transition from construction to operations with turnover docs.
• Report status to ownership and ensure compliance with local Finnish regulations.

Job description

We're hiring on behalf of a client delivering a long-term, mission-critical data center project in Finland. This is a client-side role, you'll represent the owner throughout commissioning, holding third-party CxAs, GCs, and vendors accountable to the OPR and design intent.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent the owner throughout commissioning, from design review through Level 5 Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and handover
• Review and validate the OPR, Basis of Design, and commissioning plan against business and operational goals
• Oversee and audit the performance of CxAs, GCs, and MEP subcontractors against the commissioning scope
• Chair commissioning progress meetings, coordinating across GC, CxA, design, and vendor teams
• Review commissioning documentation and witness/approve key milestones (FAT/SAT, IST)
• Track deficiency resolution and ensure commissioning stays aligned with the construction and energization schedule
• Support the transition from construction to operations, ensuring accurate turnover documentation
• Report commissioning status to ownership and ensure compliance with local Finnish regulations and codes

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager on the client/owner side of data center projects, hyperscale or colocation preferred
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems commissioning (switchgear, generators, UPS, chillers, CRAC/CRAH)
• Experience overseeing third-party CxAs and holding contractors accountable to the OPR, including Level 3–5 commissioning processes
• Ability to read electrical/mechanical design documents, with strong stakeholder management across owner, GC, CxA, and vendor teams
• Willingness to be based on-site in Finland; fluent English required, Finnish or another Nordic language a plus
