Join our technology team and be a strong contributor in multidisciplinary research, development, and innovation activities!

We seek an experienced Team Lead to the Faculty of Technology at LAB University of Applied Sciences in Lahti or Lappeenranta campus, Finland.

You will lead a team consisting of experts in information modelling and management in built environment context and work with a wide range of scientists and experts, especially those specialized in various aspects of built environment within and outside the LUT organization in R&D.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promoting research on digitalization of build environment at LAB
  • Creating, maintaining and executing the RDI strategy, roadmap and objectives of the LAB BIM Team
  • Coordinating research operations of the Team
  • Fostering high scientific quality and competence in the Team
  • Creating, planning and managing the public funding project portfolio of the Team
  • Creating and fostering relationships and science collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, such as academics and industry in relevant disciplines

What We’re Looking For

  • Ph.D. in civil engineering or other field relevant to the digitalization of built environment
  • Extensive field-relevant academic and/or industrial experience in digital construction and smart built environment. The role involves leading the team in areas such as standards-based BIM, digital twins, data science and IoT, simulation technologies, XR and metaverse environments, AI and automation, and 3D reality capture.
  • Solid understanding of energy systems, physics, materials and infrastructure, and/or construction management relating to built environment
  • Experience in public funding instruments, and acquiring and managing research projects
  • Good presentation, communication, organizational and management skills
  • Interest and experience in interdisciplinary university-industry collaborations
  • Proficiency in Finnish at a minimum of B1 level
  • Proficiency in English and strong teamwork skills in a multicultural environment

Salary and terms of employment are determined according to the Collective agreement for universities of applied sciences by Sivistysala ry. The position offers a contractual salary in the range of approximately 5200 – 6200 € per month, depending on the candidate’s skills and experience. A six-month probationary period applies.
