A leading university in applied sciences seeks an experienced Chief Specialist or Researcher to join its Faculty of Technology. Job description

Join our technology team and be a strong contributor in multidisciplinary research, development, and innovation activities!

We seek an experienced Chief Specialist or Researcher to the Faculty of Technology at LAB University of Applied Sciences in Lahti or Lappeenranta campus, Finland.

You will collaborate with a wide range of scientists and experts, such as those relating to circular economy, bioeconomy and health sciences throughout the LAB organization in R&D projects and create practical technical and methodological solutions for industries and societies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Modelling of sensor data in bioprocessing, material processing and/or health data processing context
  • Providing data analysis, modelling and digital twins, especially with sensor data
  • Building and fostering research collaboration with industrial and academic partners
  • Identifying relevant public funding instruments and executing an application process therein
  • Contributing to academic writing

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong knowledge on calculational methods, mathematical modeling, data-analysis and machine learning in bioprocessing, material processing and/or health data processing context
  • Skills relating to future remote care technologies, AI-driven prediction models for decision support, and/or human augmentation technologies will be appreciated
  • Capability and courage to apply above methods to a large variety of practical solutions
  • Capability and interest to collaborate with experts and scientists of other expertise areas
  • A problem-solving mindset
  • Experience in international research, development and innovation activities
  • Proficiency in Finnish at a minimum of B1 level
  • Proficiency in English and strong teamwork skills in a multicultural environment
  • Doctoral degree, in a relevant art, such as physics, mathematics, information technology, electrical engineering, or health or biomedical health science
  • Ability to set up development projects with stakeholders and to apply funding from various funding sources
  • Academic enthusiasm for science publications

The work will start on 2 January 2026; however, the starting date is negotiable. The employment relationship is permanent, full-time and will start with a six-month trial period.

Salary and terms of employment are determined according to the Collective agreement for universities of applied sciences by Sivistysala ry. The salary is based on the current general collective agreement for the private teaching sector: for a Researcher, it is between 3800€ and 4800€, and for a Chief Specialist, it is between 5200€ and 6200€, depending on the experience level.
