Job summary

Skydio, Inc. is seeking a Product Design Engineer in Tampere to design, prototype, test, and refine mechanical systems for camera modules. You will work hands-on with camera components and collaborate with multiple engineering teams on reliable, high-performance assemblies.

You will create CAD models and drawings, prototype concepts, and contribute to lab testing and reliability analyses in a fast-paced product-development environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering and problem solving for physical products.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and capable of creating clear drawings; CATIA preferred.
• Know-how in GD&T, materials, and common manufacturing processes.
• Experience with rapid prototyping (3D printing, CNC) and manual assembly.
• Ability to design parts for processes like injection molding and CNC machining.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD models and production-ready 2D drawings for camera parts and assemblies.
• Support mechanical design and integration of camera modules, lenses, sensors, actuators, and thermal solutions.
• Design and build prototypes to evaluate concepts and architectures.
• Design test jigs, fixtures, and measurement setups for development and validation.
• Perform tolerance analyses for fit, alignment, and mechanical performance.
• Prototype components using 3D printing, CNC, and manual assembly.
• Support FEA prep, boundary conditions, and correlation with physical testing.
