Job description
Overview

Are you interested in strengthening the attraction and retention of international talent? Do you want to support companies in recruiting international employees and help international professionals develop their career in Finland?

We are looking for a Business Coordinator for a fixed-term position in the City of Espoo’s Economic Development unit, whose mission is to build sustainable growth and vitality in Espoo.

Your main workplace will be at Espoo Talent Hub in Otaniemi, where teams from the city’s economic development and employment units work together. Our shared goal is to enable encounters between employers and international professionals who have moved to Finland for studies, work, or family reasons. We work actively in various networks, both within the city organization and externally. The position is an essential part of the Talent Boost network and the close collaboration with Finland’s six largest cities, the Work in Finland functions, and the Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce to promote international recruitment both in Finland and abroad.

Workplace

Your role in Business Services is to:

  • acquire new employer customers and contribute to producing marketing and communication materials targeted at employers
  • take part in organizing events and developing employer relationships connected to them
  • contribute to the development of services for both international jobseekers and employers
  • perform other tasks assigned by your supervisor in line with the project plan
Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • experience in managing and selling B2B customer relationships
  • a sales- and entrepreneur-minded, goal-oriented approach to work
  • the ability to develop employer services, organize events, and communicate about them in an engaging way
  • a customer-oriented and solution-focused mindset
  • a genuine interest in promoting inclusion and diversity in working life
  • strong interpersonal and networking skills
  • the courage to pick up the phone and build new customer relationships
We also value
  • good command of Finnish and English (both spoken and written); other language skills are considered an asset
  • ability to work in multicultural environments and promote inclusion and diversity at work
  • strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • flexibility and adaptability in fast-changing situations
  • strong collaboration skills and team spirit
  • a development-oriented mindset and enthusiasm for finding new solutions
Language and interaction context

In addition to English, the most widely spoken languages in Espoo include Russian, Estonian, Arabic, Somali, and Chinese. Knowledge of these languages is considered an advantage, while fluent written and spoken English is required. Since you will be interacting with employer clients, some of whom may find recruiting foreign-language employees challenging, it is important that you are able to handle at least basic phone conversations in Finnish.

What we offer

We offer an innovative and enthusiastic work community with a warm and open atmosphere. In Espoo, every working day has an impact: you will improve the everyday lives of both residents and businesses. We value your expertise and encourage you to maintain and develop your skills through versatile training opportunities. We also support, for example, learning Finnish. The City of Espoo is committed to being a language-aware employer. While internal team meetings are held primarily in Finnish, you can also participate in English. In addition, we continuously develop practices to manage linguistic diversity in our daily work.
