Job summary

DayOne is building its flagship hyperscale data center campus in Lahti, Finland. As Building Services Manager you will oversee security & soft services, lead the building services team, and coordinate contractors to keep multiple data center facilities safe, efficient, and compliant.

You will apply a technical qualification in Facilities Management or engineering, drive health and safety compliance, vendor management, and cross‑functional collaboration with security and operations.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification in Facilities Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services.
• Proven experience in building services and vendor management in data centers or similar mission-critical environments.
• Proficiency in related software and tools and knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee building services team to support day-to-day operations.
• Coordinate contractors delivering facilities services.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and conduct safety audits.
• Manage multiple buildings within a data centre cluster, including cleaning, waste management, landscaping, pest control, repairs, and front-of-house facilities.

About the Role

DayOne is building its flagship hyperscale data center campus in Lahti, on a former industrial site in Kiveriö. The campus is designed to use Finland's naturally cool climate for free cooling, with air-cooled chillers that remove the need for freshwater cooling. Join the Lahti team early and help shape how a campus of this scale is built, commissioned, and run.

As a Building Services Manager at DayOne, you'll oversee security & soft services to provide a safe and efficient environment for employees and visitors. You'll manage the building services team, work closely with the Security Manager on security, and coordinate contractors delivering facilities services. Your scope covers multiple buildings within a data centre cluster, including cleaning, waste management, landscaping, pest control, repairs, and front-of-house facilities such as lifts, gates, and roller shutters.

Your key responsibilities will include

Team and Building Services Management

• Managing the building services team to support day-to-day operations.

Health & Safety

• Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments.

Requirements

Technical skills

• Technical qualification in Facilities Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services.
• Proven experience in building services and vendor management, preferably in a data center or similar mission-critical environment.

• Proficiency in related software and tools, and knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Soft skills

• Strong people management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to coordinate service providers, foster collaboration across teams, and maintain high service standards in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Effective and clear communication skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.

Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Finnish is considered a benefit.
