Job summary

DayOne in Lahti is building its flagship hyperscale data center campus and seeks a Building Services Manager to lead the facilities team, coordinate external contractors, and ensure safe, reliable operations across multiple buildings.

You will oversee cleaning, waste management, landscaping, repairs and front-of-house facilities, drive vendor performance, and uphold health and safety standards in a fast-paced, globally ambitious environment.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification in Facilities Management or related field.
• Experience in building services and vendor management.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Managing the building services team to support day-to-day operations.
• Liaising with external contractors for cleaning, waste management, landscapes, pest control, and maintenance.

About the Role

DayOne is building its flagship hyperscale data center campus in Lahti, on a former industrial site in Kiveriö. The campus is designed to use Finland's naturally cool climate for free cooling, with air-cooled chillers that remove the need for freshwater cooling. Join the Lahti team early and help shape how a campus of this scale is built, commissioned, and run.

As a Building Services Manager at DayOne, you'll oversee security and soft services to provide a safe and efficient environment for employees and visitors. You'll manage the building services team, work closely with the Security Manager on security, and coordinate contractors delivering facilities services. Your scope covers multiple buildings within a data centre cluster, including cleaning, waste management, landscaping, pest control, repairs, and front-of-house facilities such as lifts, gates, and roller shutters.

Key responsibilities will include

• Managing the building services team to support day-to-day operations.
• Liaising with external contractors and service providers for various facility management services such as cleaning, waste management, landscapes, pest control, property maintenance, repairs and front-of-house facilities.
• Ensuring facilities are regularly inspected and maintained to prevent downtime or malfunctions.
• Negotiating contracts and ensuring services are delivered in accordance with agreements.

Health & Safety

• Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Conducting regular safety audits and risk assessments.

Requirements

Technical skills

• Technical qualification in Facilities Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services.
• Proven experience in building services and vendor management, preferably in a data center or similar mission-critical environment.
• Proficiency in related software and tools, and knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Soft skills

• Strong people management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to coordinate service providers, foster collaboration across teams, and maintain high service standards in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Effective and clear communication skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Knowledge of Finnish is considered a benefit.
