Job summary

Jobtailor in Helsinki is seeking a chemical engineer to lead biorefining process design and development. You will evaluate concepts based on economics and sustainability, and participate in all phases from early concept to scale‑up and implementation.

The role requires hands‑on experience with process simulation tools like Aspen Plus and HYSYS, strong teamwork, and excellent communication in English. You will collaborate with R&D, engineering, production sites, and external partners to translate

Qualifications

Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
Extensive experience in process design and development, preferably in biorefining or chemical industries.
Experience with process simulation tools such as Aspen Plus and HYSYS.

Responsibilities

Create and improve biorefining process concepts based on economics and sustainability.
Contribute across all phases from concept to implementation (scale‑up/down).
Collaborate with technology experts, R&D, engineering, production sites, and external partners.
Translate ideas into practical development plans and scalable solutions.
Lead and coordinate internal and external workstreams; contribute to process development.
Document learnings and basis of design, process design packages.
