Test of Things is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to develop Python-based microservices, APIs, and data pipelines for an IoT cybersecurity SaaS platform. You will work on secure coding practices, AI-driven compliance, and cloud-native development in a hybrid Oulu-based team.

Key focus areas include API design, MCP development, and integration of AI features, with emphasis on scalability, reliability, and security across the stack in a Google Cloud environment.

Qualifikationen

• Experience building scalable backend services and APIs with Python.
• Cloud platforms familiarity, preferably Google Cloud, plus containerization and CI/CD concepts.
• Microservices architecture experience.
• Relational and/or NoSQL databases experience, e.g., PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of application security: authentication/authorization.
• Experience with cybersecurity standards (CRA, GDPR, IEC 62443, ISO 27000) is a plus.

Our company is building a cutting-edge IoT cybersecurity automated testing and compliance management SaaS platform. Backend Software Engineer for end-to-end development of our product, leveraging modern technology stack that includes Python, microservices, containers, Kubernetes, Google Cloud, and AI.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End Feature Development

Backend Engineering: Build and maintain robust, scalable, and secure Python microservices that power our core application logic, API endpoints, and data processing pipelines.

API and MCP Development: Participate in the design and implementation of internal and external APIs and MCPs for our microservices, ensuring efficient communication with the frontend and third-party integrations.

Frontend development: Support Frontend engineers on developing user interfaces and debugging problems.

2. Compliance, Security, and AI Integration

AI Integration: Work to integrate our AI-driven compliance engine to facilitate automated and manual cybersecurity compliance, testing and analysis.

Security Practices: Implement secure coding practices and ensure data integrity and confidentiality across the entire stack, which is critical for a cybersecurity product.

Cybersecurity standards: Participate in developing our cybersecurity compliance engine, as well as, internal cybersecurity features and practices, as applicable.

3. Platform & Technical Excellence

Cloud & DevOps: Participate on the DevOps team planning and implementation of our platform in Google cloud.

Database Management: Design and optimize database schemas (SQL) to ensure application performance and data reliability.

Code Quality: Participate actively in code reviews, write comprehensive tests, and advocate for best practices in architecture, maintainability, and security.

AI-driven development: Use AI in daily development work and participate in developing our skills and processes in relation to AI.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Backend Expertise: Experience building scalable backend services and APIs. We appreciate proficiency with the Python language.

Cloud & Tools: Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform, and familiarity with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD concepts.

Microservices: Practical experience developing and interacting with a microservices architecture.

Database Knowledge: Proficiency with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL databases.

Security Mindset: A strong understanding of application security principles, authentication (OAuth, JWT), and authorization mechanisms.

Cybersecurity standards: Experience using cybersecurity standards and regulation, such as CRA, GDPR, IEC 62443, ISO 27000, or others is considered beneficial
