Job summary

Job description

We are seeking an Area Supervisor for the Ferrochromium plant. The role is a key member of the area maintenance and production team, acting as a supervisor for daytime operators in the assigned area. You will be responsible for people, equipment condition and performance, and daily run-keeping activities with regard to production, quality, and environmental targets. You will define and prioritise maintenance tasks for your area and plan the work of the operations organization in your area. You will ensure sufficient raw materials and production feedstock and participate in procurement processes. Together with your team you will implement safety and production-supporting activities, respond to potential equipment faults, participate in maintenance shutdowns, maintenance work, and development initiatives within the organization. Additionally you will maintain collaboration between different FeCr plant production areas. The job includes short-term replacements for shift leadership and the area management team.

Core responsibilities include quality supervisory work and ownership mindset of the production process. Success in the role requires a strict and exemplary approach to safety, initiative, organizational and problem-solving skills, and leadership abilities that motivate subordinates to develop new practices and commitment to the work. We also expect collaboration skills and the desire to succeed through teamwork, understanding of combining employee well‑being with goal-oriented leadership, willingness to develop yourself and your team with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, and applicable education, e.g. engineer, technician, or Outokumpu supervisory training.

Proficiency in Finnish and English is required. Desirable: Experience in supervisory roles, experience with continuous improvement processes (5S, LEAN, etc.), knowledge of information systems such as SAP PM.
