5 Doctoral Researchers starting January 1, 2026 for a maximum of three years. The contract can be part-time or full-time.
The Doctoral School of the Faculty of Information Technology offers doctoral education in Information Systems Science (Ph.D. or D.Sc.), Computer Science and Engineering (Ph.D. or D.Sc. Tech.), Computational Science (Ph.D.), Computing and Education (Ph.D.), and Cognitive Science (Ph.D.). The doctoral school regularly provides funding for doctoral students.
This application round is aimed at doctoral students already studying at the faculty and also for new doctoral students who are expected to graduate within max. four years of starting their doctoral studies. Please note that if you do not yet have the right to study in the Doctoral Programme in Information Technology, you must apply separately by September 30, 2025 at 3:00 EEST according to these instructions.
The tasks of the doctoral researchers focus on the research concerning doctoral thesis, doctoral studies, assisting teaching tasks, and other tasks related to these. The eligible candidate for the position should have a master’s degree and the right to postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Jyväskylä. Good command of English is required. A trial period of six months will be used at the beginning of the employment.

The salary for a Doctoral Researcher is determined based on the task-specific demand level 2–4 of the university salary system for teaching and research staff. The starting salary will be approximately 2500 €/month (gross income). With progress of thesis work, the salary will be revised in accordance with the Collective Agreement of Finnish Education Employers.
