Universal Cabinets & Designs in Malaga, WA is seeking a keen and experienced Wood Machinist to run the machines in our cabinet making operation. You will operate Biesse CNC, edgebander, beamsaw and use hand tools to produce high-quality cabinetry.

Applicants should have a Certificate III in Wood Machining or 3 years of apprenticeship-equivalent experience; CNC experience is essential. Flexibility with hours and strong workmanship are required. Forklift ticket is advantageous.

Universal Cabinets & Designs is currently looking for a keen & experienced Wood Machinists to run the machines in a cabinet making business in the Malaga area. E.g. Morbidelli, CNC & beamsaw and Biesse winstore. We manufacture all types of cabinet works in a large factory and specialise with custom cabinetry and commercial outfits.

Duties include:

• Operates variety of woodworking machines such as Biesse CNC, edgebander, beamsaw and uses various handtools
• Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
• Perform regular checks to ensure machines are in good working order and address any issues.
• Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
• Monitor stock levels associated the machines
• Assist to organise warehouse stock and operation of forklift

Applicant requirements:

• Hold a Certificate III in Wood machining plus at least 1 year of employment experience, or 3 years of employment experience in lieu of any formal qualifications in the industry of cabinet making.
• CNC or machining experience
• Must be able to step up to the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with working hours at short notice
• Must take pride in their workmanship and quality
• Attention to detail
• Ability to follow instructions, be keen, self motivated and driven
• Be able to communicate well
• Forklift ticket is advantageous but not necessary
