Digital Science, based in Spain, seeks a VP of Infrastructure Operations to lead strategy, design, and management of our cloud‑based infrastructure (AWS & GCP). The role focuses on delivery of production services, security, and compliance to enable business growth.

You will mentor DevOps/SRE teams, drive operational excellence, and collaborate with Security, Development, Product and Business units to meet requirements. This executive role demands strong leadership and cloud expertise.

Formación

• Senior leadership experience in IT infrastructure with a focus on cloud services.
• Experience managing multiple cloud operations teams across technologies, geographies and requirements.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.) and GCP services (Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, etc.).
• Leadership proficiency in DevOps tools and practices including CI/CD, automation and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (e.g., Terraform).
• Expertise in monitoring, logging and alerting processes and tooling.
• Organised with the ability to manage details while keeping the big picture.
• Strong communication skills, able to engage across organisational levels and lead improvement discussions.
• Collaboration oriented; ensures all groups are informed and understand processes.
• Self‑learner with an inquisitive mindset.
• Resourceful and solution‑focused, making practical considerations for all stakeholders.
• Problem‑solving mindset with strong analytical abilities.
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field; AWS Certified Solutions Architect or GCP Professional Cloud Architect preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Mentor and lead DevOps/SRE/Infrastructure Engineers for high performance.
• Oversee compliance, monitoring, incident response, automation, 24/7 stability and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with Security to ensure ISO 27001, ISO 27701, Cyber Essentials, DR/BC plans.
• Partner with Development, Product, Security and Business teams to deliver requirements.
• Manage vendor relationships with cloud providers and third‑party vendors.
• Contribute to budget development, management and reporting of infrastructure operations.

Position Summary

VP of Infrastructure Operations oversees strategy, design, and management of our predominantly cloud‑based infrastructure (AWS & GCP). The role is critical to the delivery of production services, enabling business growth and ensuring security and compliance.

Eligible Locations

Applications are accepted only from candidates residing in the UK, Spain, Germany or Romania. Those applying from outside these areas will not be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and optimisation of AWS and GCP cloud infrastructure.
• Define and execute a cloud strategy that supports scalability, cost efficiency, and business continuity, aligned to corporate objectives.
• Mentor and lead teams of DevOps/SRE/Infrastructure Engineers, driving professional growth and high performance.
• Oversee operational excellence: compliance, monitoring, alerting, incident response, automation, 24/7 stability, capacity planning, change management, and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with Security to ensure compliance with ISO 27001, ISO 27701, Cyber Essentials, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans.
• Partner with Development, Product, Security and Business teams to understand and deliver business requirements.
• Manage vendor relationships with cloud providers and other third‑party vendors, scanning for new products to enhance return on investment.
• Contribute to budget development, management and reporting of infrastructure operations.
