Fundación IMDEA Materials in Spain is seeking a First Stage Researcher (R1) to provide technical support for laboratory research activities. The role includes operation, maintenance, and setup of laboratory equipment, as well as sample preparation and microstructural observation.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and have a high level of English; applicants aged 16–29 with no prior employment with IMDEA will be considered under the STEP program.

Responsabilidades

• Provide technical support for laboratory research activities.

• Prepare samples and observe microstructural analysis (cutting, polishing, chemical etching, microscopy).
• Support good laboratory practices, health and safety, stock control, and waste management.

Offer Description

The tasks of the position will be oriented toward technical support for the research activities carried out in the laboratory.

The selected person will provide support in the operation, maintenance, and setup of laboratory equipment, as well as in sample preparation and observation for microstructural analysis, including cutting, polishing, chemical etching, and microscopy. In addition, they will contribute to the overall proper functioning of the laboratory by carrying out support tasks related to good laboratory practices, health and safety in the workplace, stock control, and waste management.

It is mandatory that the candidate meets the requirements indicated in the call:

• Age (16-29 years old), be under 30 years of age at the date of hiring
• Degree/qualification (according to the requested profile)
• No employment relationship with IMDEA (during the 6 months prior to hiring).

The position is supported by Young Researchers Programme of the Community of Madrid within the framework of the ESF+ Programme: Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) / Programa de Jóvenes Investigadores de la Comunidad de Madrid en el marco del Programa FSE+: Plataforma de Tecnologías Estratégicas para Europa (STEP)
