LGT Digital Factory (DiF) seeks a Tech Lead & Deputy Head to co-lead its growth as a modern nearshore delivery hub. You will lead ~20 engineers across frontend, backend, and platform teams, shaping scalable digital product architectures integrated with core banking systems.

You will deputize for the Head, drive strategy, budgeting, and vendor governance while advancing an agentic SDLC and industry-leading delivery practices across Europe.

Formación

• Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or related engineering field (mandatory).
• Specialized training in financial services technology or wealth management systems is a plus.
• Business-fluent English for global stakeholder collaboration.
• German and/or Spanish are an advantage.

LGT Digital Factory (DiF) is seeking a Tech Lead & Deputy Head to co-lead its growth as a modern nearshore delivery hub. This is a senior leadership role for a technology professional who combines architectural depth, engineering excellence and the ability to translate complex technical choices into business value.

As a member of the DiF Management Board and deputy to the Head of DiF, you will lead and develop around 20 engineers across frontend, backend, full-stack, platform and performance engineering. You will help build scalable digital product architectures integrated with core banking systems, while advancing an agentic software development lifecycle (SDLC) across the LGT Digital Factory.

What you'll do

• Deputize for the Head of DiF, assuming full leadership accountability in their absence and representing Digital Factory to senior bank management boards and group IT stakeholders.
• Contribute actively to the DiF Management Board, shaping strategy, headcount planning, budget management, and the evolution of DiF as a world-class nearshore delivery organization.
• Line-manage and develop technically senior engineering teams; provide mentoring, performance frameworks, and career development guidance to drive individual and collective excellence.
• Act as the primary technical interface between DiF, LGT corporate IT functions, business units, and select external technology partners, translating complex engineering decisions into clear business narratives for non-technical audiences.
• Lead and facilitate cross-functional workshops, design thinking sessions, and agile ceremonies to align delivery squads with product and business priorities.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Leadership Expertise:

• 3-5 years of formal or informal leadership experience managing teams with a high technical orientation
• Supports the leadership team in developing and implementing strategic plans to drive business growth and achieve organizational objectives.
• Familiarity with business administration responsibilities: budgeting, capacity planning, OKR frameworks, and resource allocation in a technology-led organization.
• Develops and maintains a deep understanding of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform business development strategies.
• Represents DiF within the LGT organization and shares DiF values and procedures with all involved parties (internal and suppliers)
• Supports efforts to identify and pursue new business opportunities for DiF
• Exposure to nearshore or distributed delivery hub management, including vendor governance and cross-border team coordination

Technical Expertise:

• 5-7 years in software engineering and architectural design
• Proficiency in modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and responsive design principles, strong grounding in full-stack context (APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures).
• Experience with Core banking systems (Avaloq, Temenos) or similar wealth management platforms
• Experience integrating development, operations, and QA processes.
• Ability to define and fully leverage platform engineering and cloud native technology

Architectural / Engineering Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to design user-centric interfaces and align systems with business goals
• Experience in constant optimization of application performance (from back to front) and streamlining operational processes
• Build and continuously evolve an Agentic SDLC environment for the Digital Factory, embedding
• AI-assisted engineering practices into the software delivery lifecycle.

Industry Knowledge:

• Background in financial services, private banking, or wealth management
• Understanding of regulatory compliance and security standards in banking / European wealth management

INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in computer science, information technology, or related engineering field (mandatory)
• Specialized training in financial services technology or wealth management systems (e.g., Avaloq ecosystem or comparable experience)
• Business-fluent English (verbal/written) for global stakeholder collaboration
• German and/or Spanish are an advantage.

Location and working model

The role is based in Barcelona with a hybrid working model. Regular office presence is expected (at least three days per week) and the role involves regular travel within Europe. Relocation support can be considered for international candidates.
