Steneg in Madrid seeks a System Design Engineer to lead systems engineering for advanced electro-optical products, guiding requirements, validation, and product launch across mechanical, optical, electronic, software, and manufacturing domains.

You will own the lifecycle from definition to launch, drive V-model processes, manage requirements, perform design reviews, and coordinate with research, manufacturing, and testing teams to ensure industrial feasibility and robust performance.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical discipline is required.
• 10–15 years in complex high-technology product development.
• Proven experience as System Architect or System Design Engineer.
• Strong multidisciplinary understanding across mechanical, electronics, optics, and software.
• Solid knowledge of Systems Engineering methodologies, including the V-model.
• Experience with requirements management tools and engineering change control.
• Professional proficiency in English.

Responsabilidades

Mission

The System Design Engineer will be responsible for leading the systems engineering activities associated with the development of advanced electro-optical products, ensuring technical consistency from requirements definition through validation and product launch. The role bridges research and industrial implementation, driving system architecture, design reviews, requirements management, and multidisciplinary coordination to deliver robust, high-performance products aligned with customer and business objectives.

Responsibilities

System Engineering and Technical Leadership

• Own the complete systems engineering lifecycle, following the V-model from requirements definition through validation and product launch.
• Develop and maintain the overall system architecture while ensuring consistency across mechanical, optical, electronic, software, and manufacturing disciplines.
• Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and engineering decision-making to ensure robust system performance.

Requirements, Design and Validation

• Define, maintain, and manage system requirements, traceability, verification activities, and performance validation.
• Evaluate technical solutions, identify design gaps, risks, or inconsistencies, and propose corrective actions.
• Ensure system design decisions remain aligned with product requirements, operational performance, and industrial feasibility.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Act as the technical reference between research, engineering, manufacturing, testing, and other key stakeholders.
• Support multidisciplinary teams by providing strong technical guidance throughout product development.
• Facilitate communication between technical disciplines to ensure efficient project execution and successful industrialization.

Reporting and Governance

• Maintain engineering documentation related to system requirements, verification, and design evolution.
• Support configuration management and change control activities throughout the development lifecycle.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, methodologies, and technical governance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master\'s degree in Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optoelectronics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Approximately 10–15 years of professional experience in complex product development within defence, aerospace, industrial, or other high-technology environments.
• Proven experience as a System Architect, System Design Engineer, or similar systems engineering role.
• Strong multidisciplinary understanding of mechanical, electronics, optics, optoelectronics, sensors, imaging technologies, or related fields.
• Solid knowledge of Systems Engineering methodologies, including the V-model.
• Experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, Polarion, ReqView, or equivalent.
• Experience with configuration management and engineering change control processes.
• Professional proficiency in English.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.
• Previous experience in electro-optical systems, imaging technologies, night vision products, or defence-related applications.
• Strong technical leadership capabilities with experience participating in or leading design reviews.
• Knowledge of Spanish and/or French would be considered an advantage.
