Wizeline is seeking a Staff Engineer to guide the transition of legacy PHP systems to a modern, scalable tech stack. You will lead architectural decisions, stay hands-on, and mentor engineers while shaping API strategies and integration patterns.

You will work with Next.js, Node.js, Symfony, and AI-assisted tools to accelerate development, improve reliability, and ensure business continuity during migration. Collaboration with stakeholders is essential for success.

Formación

• Staff or Lead-level software engineering experience, able to lead technical direction independently.

Responsabilidades

• Provide architectural guidance on modernizing legacy PHP systems.
• Evaluate trade-offs, define API boundaries, and plan migration strategies.
• Remain hands-on with code while providing staff-level leadership.
• Resolve critical bugs and improve system reliability in legacy environments.
• Translate undocumented business logic into modular, maintainable architecture.
• Decouple legacy systems using modern backend/frontend patterns (APIs, microservices/BFF, Next.js, Node.js).
• Design and guide APIs using GraphQL, REST, API Gateways.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) in daily development.
• Identify opportunities to increase engineering velocity with AI.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to clarify requirements and decisions.
• Help establish engineering standards and modern practices while mentoring others.
