Job summary

Qonto is hiring a Staff Applied AI Engineer, Backend to build production systems where AI is a core runtime capability. You\'ll help AFC teams investigate cases faster by turning complex workflows into dependable tools.

You will own end-to-end projects, design robust backend foundations, and measure AI behaviour with observability. The role offers high autonomy, direct interaction with AFC stakeholders, and a chance to shape the team\'s technical direction in a regulated fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Shipped an AI agent or agentic workflow used by real users.
• Strong backend system-design fundamentals across architecture, APIs, databases, and scalability.
• Autonomy at staff level with independent decision-making.
• Ability to turn ambiguous operational pain into valuable solutions without a PM.
• End-to-end ownership from discovery to production and maintenance.
• Curiosity about AFC and fintech compliance; fintech experience helpful.

Responsibilities
