Qualifications

• Несколько лет опыта руководства командами SRE, инфраструктуры или платформ.

Responsibilities

• Управлять и развивать команду из восьми инженеров.
• Определять, что автоматизировать и какие метрики внедрить в первую очередь, и реализовать план.
• Обеспечивать надёжность флота Proton VPN, включая SLO, budgets ошибок, инцидент-реакцию и постмортемы.
• Строить мониторинг, показывающий, что испытывают пользователи в каждой стране, начиная с пропускной способности.
• Замещать ручную provisioning/развертывание/ремонт через инструменты, которые быстро и безопасно выпускают изменения.
• Устанавливать инженерные стандарты для команды и наставлять инженеров.

Proton provides encrypted email and privacy-focused products, including Proton VPN, Proton Drive, Proton Pass, and Proton Calendar. Proton VPN gives millions of people a private connection to the internet, including in countries where the internet is censored.

Задачи:

• Manage and develop a team of eight engineers
• Decide what the team automates and measures first, and deliver that plan
• Own the reliability of the Proton VPN fleet, including SLOs, error budgets, incident response, and postmortems
• Build monitoring that shows what users experience in each country, starting with throughput
• Replace manual provisioning, deployment, and repair work with tooling that ships changes to the fleet quickly and safely
• Set the engineering standards for the team, and coach engineers to solve operational problems with software
• Plan capacity and new locations with VPN product engineering, Proton's infrastructure teams, and network and datacenter providers

Требования:

• Several years of experience managing site reliability, infrastructure, or platform teams
• Experience leading a team from manual operations to automated operations, with describable results
• Strong technical judgment on large Linux fleets; ability to review designs, read Python and Ansible, and identify gaps in postmortems
• Experience owning the reliability of a production service, including SLOs, error budgets, incident response, and postmortems
• Experience building or rebuilding production-service monitoring and getting engineers to rely on it
• Experience running physical infrastructure, or a clear willingness to learn it
• Experience developing engineers, giving direct feedback, and addressing underperformance
• Experience delivering projects that depend on teams outside your own
• Ability to set priorities independently and decide with the team how to reach goals
• Clear writing in strategy documents, incident reports, and engineering standards
• Commitment to privacy and improving observability while respecting Proton VPN's no-logs policy
• Будет плюсом: deep networking knowledge, including routing, peering, WireGuard, OpenVPN, and packet-level debugging; experience with censorship circumvention or infrastructure in restricted network environments; experience operating fleets across many countries, including vendor and legal work; a software engineering background in Python or another language
