Platforms & Financial Services

Adyen is expanding beyond payments by building an entire suite of embedded financial services tailored for platforms, marketplaces, SaaS businesses, on-demand platforms, and crowdfunding platforms. Our team’s mission is to enable these platforms to manage their global payments and financial services seamlessly through API integrations or hosted solutions.

With our solutions, platforms can:

• Run onboarding, verification, and compliance processes across multiple markets.
• Manage payments and trigger faster payouts and bank transfers in all preferred currencies.
• Offer value-added services like capital lending and the issuing of payment cards and bank accounts.

Our team is responsible for developing the technology behind this unified platform, focusing on the following areas. We are looking to hire for the following different teams.

• Liquidity Management stream: is a team in the Platforms & Financial Services (P&FS) Solution. Our mission is to build the liquidity management foundation to enhance our financial services offering. These enhancements (e.g. cash pooling and real-time balance checks) allow for a full-stack offering in one platform while advancing internal control and stability. The team will closely work together with Finance, Compliance and Product Streams. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team working on the fundamentals of our offering.
• Platform Integration Experience (PIE): This team is focused on creating powerful, user-friendly UI components that allow customers to integrate Adyen’s functionality into their apps. Your mission would be to develop the backend web apps that connect these components with Adyen for Platform and financial services.
• Bank Accounts: This team in Madrid is an important part of Adyen's platform and financial services solution, which is Adyen's next strategic move after capturing the payments market. You will be responsible for developing both our embedded and enterprise account offering which includes a variety of projects with unique challenges.

Your role:

• You will build and maintain our distributed high-performance platform.
• You will be part of a diverse and inclusive team.
• We launch fast and iterate often. Concretely, this means that within your first few weeks, you will bring code live that impacts many businesses and shoppers.
• You will be fully responsible from its initial design to bringing new functionality live.
• Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable.
• Collaborate across teams and time zones to make things happen, review code and be open to feedback.
• As an engineer you will helping our core financial data processes and working on our finance infrastructure, to keep it scalable, reliable and secure

Who you are:

• We are looking for a few Software Engineers with different seniorities and backgrounds, with experience working with object-oriented programming languages (Java).
• If you are flexible, a team player, someone with an eye for detail will be great.
• Someone able to take ownership and lead a project and who enjoys writing testable code.
• Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts.
• We are an international team, so we need you to be full professional proficiency (written and verbal) in English.
• Proficient in creating performant database queries and table structures.
• Our Tech Stack: Java 17, Web Services (RESTful) and SQL/PostgreSQL using MyBatis (ORM), Tomcat, Gradle, CockroachDB and Elasticsearch.
