Job summary

Flywire seeks a Software Engineer II to design, build, and scale the platform behind our high-value payments engine. You will own features, improve performance, and ensure secure, cost-efficient operations in a collaborative, global team.

You’ll work with a modern stack (Java, Ruby, React) across Linux, MySQL/MongoDB, Redis, and AWS, contributing to a payment platform serving thousands of clients and millions of transactions daily.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in application development with hands-on delivery.
• Experience building scalable, distributed systems and services.
• Strong REST-based API design and implementation experience.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) exposure.
• Observability tools and practices knowledge.
• Relational databases proficiency.
• Solid object-oriented design fundamentals.
• Experience collaborating with QA, Product, and SRE teams.
• Fluent in English for global collaboration.
• FinTech or payments industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and optimise scalable and secure services.
• Write clean, testable, maintainable, and extensible code.
• Solve complex technical challenges and production issues.
• Evaluate data and scenarios to make sound design and technical decisions.
• Improve scalability, performance, and reliability across systems.
• Contribute to product vision by collaborating with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers globally.
• Mentor and support other developers to grow their skills.
