Factorial, a leading AI-powered business management platform, is hiring a Staff Engineer for the Infrastructure team in Spain. You’ll lead technical discussions, guide junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable features.
You’ll troubleshoot complex issues, own major initiatives, and shape the quarterly technical roadmap. Office-first with flexible remote options; on-site four days per week in the A Coruña office, with opportunities for focused remote work
Hello!
Do you want to help us redefine how AI powers the future of Business Management software, not as an add-on, but as a core part of how people work, decide and grow?
We’re a team of 200+ Product Engineers building Business Management solution that actually works for the people using it. Our core stack is Ruby on Rails and React but the interesting work right now is what we’re building on top of that: agentic workflows, LLM-integrated features, systems that behave probabilistically rather than deterministically.
To keep the Factorial application running 24/7, ensure its performance, scalability and security, as well as research improvements to enable Product Engineers to develop new use cases adding value to our customers.
Please note this is not a backend or frontend Software Engineering role.
As a Staff Engineer you’ll lead technical discussions and provide guidance to more junior engineers on best practices and coding standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of features.
Identify and troubleshoot software defects and implement effective solutions.
You will be a product-centric engineer, taking ownership of big initiatives, and being interested in the outcome, not just the output. About the outcome, you’ll also work with your team members to establish goals and plan a quarterly roadmap, putting special attention to the technical needs of our domain.
You will review code, and get feedback on your own code.
You will learn from the entire team, both on technical topics (performance, architecture…) and core skills, in an environment driven by engineering quality.
You will share your knowledge, through the RFCs you write, pairing sessions, our mentoring programme or the occasional appearance in the monthly Tech All Hands.
At Factorial, we believe the best products are built when people come together, in person to collaborate, challenge ideas, and move fast. That’s why our Engineering Teams follows an office-first, flexible approach.
We work on-site four days a week, using that time to connect, align, and innovate as a team. However, we also understand the importance of focus and flexibility, so we support remote work when it makes sense - whether for deep work, personal needs, or just a change of scenery.
This balance helps us stay agile, creative, and closely connected, while giving everyone the space to do their best work.
At Factorial we don’t evaluate you by the years of experience you have, we evaluate your knowledge and skills. How? We have a Career Path with a rubric framework where we define what is expected for each experience level and skill. This framework allows you to know at which level you’re right now and what you need to keep growing. As we love transparency, our Career Path includes the salaries for each level and we share it during the first interview to make sure we’re aligned.
At Factorial, we’re building the leading AI Business Management Software for companies of all sizes. Our platform centralizes key workflows across HR, Finance, Talent, Operations, and IT, freeing teams from manual processes so they can focus on what really matters: leading, growing, and taking care of their people. With over 1,500 employees across Europe, Asia, Africa, and America, we are one of Europe’s fastest-growing SaaS companies, proudly headquartered in Barcelona.
We believe in diverse talent: we welcome applicants from all backgrounds and strongly encourage people of diverse experiences and identities to apply.
We believe in inclusion: we are committed to equal opportunities and actively promote workplace inclusion of people with disabilities. If you would like to learn more about our inclusive recruitment processes, you are welcome to indicate so optionally and we will share additional information with you.
