Job summary

Hispasat, part of the SpaceRISE consortium, seeks a Security Engineer specializing in Cybersecurity to advance the IRIS² project. The role emphasizes encryption, key management, and secure space-system architecture, engaging with European institutions and industry partners.

The candidate will analyze requirements, perform penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, and contribute to security documentation and audits within satellite-ground infrastructures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering activities or secure encryption, preferably in satellite-communications domain.
• Proven experience with institutional customers or national governmental institutions in security risk management and incidents.
• In-depth knowledge of encryption, authentication, authorization and accounting, KMS, SIEM, SOAR, and security standards (ISO/IEC 27000-series) and ECSS.
• Experience with space security standards (ECSS, CCSDS) and European institutions (EUSPA, EC, ESA).

Responsibilities

• Review flight and ground architectures, requirement lists and Statements of Work.
• Analyse cybersecurity requirements and tailor security requirements to interfaces and subsystems.
• Design and trade off security architectures focusing on encryption, KMS, and key distribution.
• Support security requirement-compliance analysis and vulnerability identification.
• Conduct authorised hands-on penetration tests to identify security flaws.
• Support cybersecurity audits and periodic security upgrades.
• Develop and maintain Security Management Plan and end-to-end space-system security architecture.
• Review security documentation with project team and external stakeholders.
