Babcock International is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to lead safety case development and rigorous risk assessments for Defence Ground Support Equipment, ensuring safety across its lifecycle.
You will mentor engineers, run safety investigations, and coordinate with customers and cross‑functional teams to deliver compliant, operationally effective outcomes while maintaining regulatory standards and safety culture.
As a Senior Safety Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and integrity of critical Australian Defence Force Ground Support Equipment throughout its lifecycle.
Working as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you will lead the development, assessment and continuous improvement of safety cases, conduct complex safety analyses, and provide expert guidance to support the delivery of safe, compliant and operationally effective outcomes.
You’ll lead safety investigations, manage safety working groups, contribute to business development activities and collaborate closely with customers and multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges, ensuring risks are understood and managed in accordance with industry standards and reduced so far as is reasonably practicable.
Your work will directly influence key engineering decisions while supporting some of Defence’s most important capabilities.
You are an experienced safety engineering professional with a strong understanding of safety case management, hazard identification, risk assessment methodologies and regulatory compliance within complex engineering environments.
Comfortable working autonomously and making informed technical decisions, you can confidently translate safety requirements into practical engineering solutions while balancing operational, commercial and customer needs.
Your ability to analyse problems, interpret standards and produce high-quality technical documentation sets you apart. Equally important is your ability to build relationships and influence others.
You enjoy mentoring engineers, facilitating productive discussions with diverse stakeholders and sharing knowledge to strengthen team capability.
